MP35N™ AMS 5844 / 5845 Round Bar
ATI 35N™ (UNS R30035)
Overview
MP35N™ AMS 5844/5845, also known as UNS R30035 and ATI 35N™, is a vacuum induction melted (VIM), vacuum arc remelted (VAR) nickel-cobalt alloy renowned for its exceptional combination of ultra-high strength, toughness, ductility and outstanding corrosion resistance.
The high-strength AMS variant of MP35N is used extensively for aerospace fasteners, airframe components and high-end motorsport applications including Formula One. We also stock MP35N™ in the NACE condition, which is aged at a higher temperature to maximise corrosion resistance and sulphide stress cracking resistance for oil and gas environments.
UK Stock and Fast Turnaround
We hold MP35N AMS 5844 and 5845 round bar in stock at our Sheffield warehouse, ready for cutting to length and dispatch across the UK. Our combination of available stock and competitive pricing makes us one of the UK’s leading suppliers of this material for aerospace and motorsport applications, backed by our AS9120 and ISO 19443 certifications.
AMS 5844 vs AMS 5845
We stock MP35N™ round bar in both AMS conditions. Understanding which condition is right for your application can save significant time and cost in your supply chain.
AMS 5844 (Solution Treated and Cold Worked)
AMS 5844 covers MP35N™ bar in the solution treated and cold worked condition. The material is supplied with an ageing capability test result demonstrating it will meet AMS 5845 properties once aged. This condition is useful where the full strength aged material would be too tough to machine economically. The end user carries out the ageing heat treatment (typically 1050°F / 566°C for 4 hours, air cooled) after machining of the component.
AMS 5845 (Solution Treated, Cold Worked and Aged)
AMS 5845 covers MP35N™ bar in the fully aged condition, meaning it arrives at the guaranteed minimum tensile strength of 260 ksi. This saves the end user from having to carry out their own ageing operation and the associated testing and certification. Ideal where components do not require extensive machining prior to use.

Chemical Composition (UNS R30035)
MP35N™ is a quaternary alloy based on nickel and cobalt, with substantial additions of chromium and molybdenum. The four primary alloying elements form the basis for corrosion resistance found in nearly every stainless steel, nickel and cobalt-based alloy on the market, giving MP35N™ an exceptionally broad corrosion resistance profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
AMS 5844 covers MP35N™ round bar in the solution treated and cold worked condition. The material is supplied with an ageing capability test result, meaning the end user carries out the ageing heat treatment after machining. AMS 5845 covers MP35N™ round bar that has been solution treated, cold worked, and fully aged, so it arrives ready to use at full strength without further heat treatment.
We stock MP35N™ AMS round bar from 6.858mm (0.27 inches) to 50.8mm (2 inches) in diameter, available in both AMS 5844 and AMS 5845 conditions from our Sheffield warehouse. For sizes outside of this range or for cold drawn tubing, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
MP35N™ AMS (5844/5845) is the high-strength variant optimised for Aerospace and Motorsport. With a guaranteed minimum tensile strength of 260 ksi.
MP35N™ NACE is aged at a higher temperature (typically 1300-1425°F) to prioritise maximum corrosion resistance and sulphide stress cracking resistance for oil and gas application.
Yes. MP35N™ retains its mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures without embrittlement, and can operate effectively at temperatures up to approximately 600°F (316°C). This makes it suitable for applications spanning extreme cold to moderate elevated temperatures.
MP35N™ is a quaternary alloy with the following nominal composition: Nickel 33-37%, Cobalt balance, Chromium 19-21%, Molybdenum 9-10.5%, with trace limits on Carbon (0.025% max), Manganese (0.15% max), Silicon (0.15% max), Phosphorus (0.015% max), Iron (1% max), Titanium (1% max), and Boron (0.15% max).
