Broder Metals Group may be a relative newcomer to the Aerospace and Defence market (we obtained AS 9120 only in 2019) but we are having immense success in encouraging customers to use us for the round bar requirements. The latter, MP35N, plays a critical role in the aerospace and defence industries. This hard, tough and durable material is used in applications such as springs, fasteners, and electrical connectors for aircraft and spacecraft components.
The unique capabilities of MP35N are derived from the alloy’s chemistry, premium melting technology, cold-working work input and, of course, the ageing heat treatment which leads to several options within the overall material type. One, particularly for the oil and gas market, is the “NACE” variant, which maximises the material’s ultra corrosion resistance properties while still complying with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. For aerospace, defence, motor racing and critical engineering applications AMS 5844, and after ageing, AMS 5845, provide the ideal material for properties where high strength and low weight / size are crucial.

Although the AMS 5844 and AMS 5845 standards only cover materials up to 44.45 mm Ø, Broder Aerospace holds stocks in both AMS 5844 and AMS 5845, from 6.35 mm Ø up to 76.2 mm Ø. If we do not have the material size in AMS 5845 you require, we have extensive experience in combining customer requirements and our knowledge to age either the bar or machined components to meet that standard.
